Savor Every Second
I hope you are doing well as you read this post! The more I work with people one-on-one, the more I realize how important it is to just be there for someone and encourage them. As I have come across people recently – through my readings — that are struggling with illnesses, I have offered to send them good thoughts. I wanted to send them good thoughts, ideally, more than once each day, so I choose a spot where I’d see this paper often to remind me to do so. As I zoom through the house from one thing to the next, I see the paper with their names on it that sits on my fireplace mantle. This reminds me to stop in my tracks, and send them good thoughts and encouragement right then and there. I am grateful to be able to do this for people, and am reminded about the growing research of how positive thought is proving to help people (as seen in scientific studies).
The list of names is growing quickly as I speak with people struggling with difficult health situations. My heart goes out to them, as I am reminded how quickly our lives can change. This reminds me to try and tell people I am very close to that I love them (and to live life to the fullest each day). As I know from personal experience – from my near-death experience of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning in my early twenties – your life can change in one day…in an instant. Now, when I am lucky enough to spend some time with a loved one – be it a friend in person, or a sibling on the phone (as they are all out of state) – I try to be as present as I can (and stop multi-tasking…easier said than done…but really important).
As we are still enjoying some warm weather, let yourself have some fun or relaxation after your busy day. Be in the moment and let yourself enjoy something today…an unexpected laugh with a friend…some time with all your phones turned off just laying on the couch or floor doing absolutely nothing…being out in rejuvenating nature…or something as simple as a watching a hummingbird, or having some delicious watermelon or popsicle on a hot day…simple pleasures.
Indulge yourself in the moment today. Whenever I have the luxury of being in a really beautiful place, I try to remind myself to Savor Every Second. Have fun!
